A PICTURE WORTH MANY WORDS…
Question - Can the DAD be mounted on an older Ultra Tec Faceting Machine? Answer - Yes! See the picture below.
A few days ago, Grover Sparkman, our rep in Portland, Oregon, called, questioning if the DAD could be mounted it on an old machine. I had an easy answer—in hand. Just the day before, Duncan Miller, from South Africa, had sent this photo--his 36 year old Ultra Tec with the DAD mounted. Easy answer—there it was. Incidentally…
It was 36 years ago that I built my first Ultra Tec—and for all I know, this might be the very one, but in any event, it is one of the ones I worked on in 1972.
I THINK THIS IS NIFTY… THE NOMAGRAM
I found this on the UK Facet Cutters Guild website—authored by Clive Washington. I like it. When Clive sent an email, giving permission for us to use his article, he offered the opinion that it might be a bit old fashioned—“ Gemcad will do this job … more accurately”, he said. But he allowed that “…it may be useful to people who work in different ways”. Well, I must be one of those “different ways” folks—maybe you are too. The entire article is in this website’s “Library”—including a nomogram that you can copy and instructions on using it. Thank you , Clive. HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU ALL!!
