SCOTT SUCHER - FAMOUS DIAMOND REPLICAS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"masterpieces in their own right" Those were the words
that the New Zealand Jewelry Fair used to characterize
their upcoming exhibit of Scott Sucher's collection of
diamond replicas.
Scott Sucher, Ultra Tec's Representative in New
Mexico will be appearing at the New Zealand Jewelry
Fair, in Aukland. The Fair is scheduled for September 26
- 27, 2009 at the ASB Showgrounds.
Scott Sucher is well known for his replicas of famous
diamond masterpieces -the Hope Diamond, the Koh-I-Noor,
and other diamonds of romantic legend. Scott has crafted
these replicas as exactly and precisely as possible. The
process of duplicating these diamonds starts with an
impressive amount of research -- scientific "detective"
work - and finally the precise faceting effort itself.
Check out his website, www.museumdiamonds.com, and
you will get an idea of the effort, and be caught up in
the romance of it.
You faceters who live in New Zealand, this is an
opportunity to see the entire collection and to chat
with Scott.
GLENN KLEIN VISIT at ULTRA TEC
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were recently visited by Glenn Klein. Glenn is
currently Historian of the US Faceters Guild, and author
of the book Faceting History. In the photo, Glenn is
receiving a 44 year-old first production run Ultra Tec
Mast (shown) from Joe Rubin, for inclusion in the
(currently looking-for- a-home) Faceting Museum.
Glenn was very active in the world of amateur
faceting competition -winning many major awards. Glenn
has been very free in sharing his faceting knowledge,
and has written many articles - including an article
that appears in the current August issue of Jewelry
Artist (Lapidary Journal to you old timers).
Glenn's personal Ultra Tec dates back to 1971 - it
has seen many many stones--and is evidence of the sort
of working life that can be obtained from an Ultra Tec
that has been taken care of-which mostly means, keeping
it clean. Glenn provides meticulous care-it looks like
it "just came out of the showroom"-and those of you who
remember Glenn's competition case, know the meaning of
"meticulous".

LH DAD AVAILABLE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We've gotten a number of inquiries on the subject of a
LH DAD. Well, here it is. (You left-siders knew we
wouldn't leave you abandoned).
The photo shows the Left-side mounting Digital Angle
Display (DAD)-mounted and tested. We are running LH
parts in Production--and we'll deliver before the end of
August. There are many left-sided machines "out there"
and we're trying to estimate production quantities-so if
you are interested-let us know.
The DAD continues to have only "rave reviews". I did
the testing on it, and so I've had a DAD for over a year
and a half-and every time I use my machine my
appreciation of it grows.
Questions? On our website, there is a section of
"FAQ" devoted to it. The list price for the DAD is $780-
The LH DAD is item #1314L
● AUGUST-vacation time for many people. To those of
you who are taking a Summer vacation-have a good time!
The last few weeks have been very hot in Southern
California. I'm headed to the beach this weekend.
BEST REGARDS TO ALL OF YOU-FROM ALL OF US AT ULTRA
TEC.
